Hillsborough County Training Assistance (HCTA)

Need help paying for school?

Services under this program are eligibility-based. Therefore all interested persons must meet and be able to document the following preliminary eligibility criteria to be a potential candidate.

General Eligibility:

1. You are a Hillsborough County resident.
2. You are 18 years or older.
3. You meet U.S. Citizen requirements or hold current Permanent Resident Alien Card.
4. If you are a male whose date of birth falls after December 31st, 1959, then you meet Selective Service registration requirements.
5. You are laid off or you have received official notice of layoff from your current job and are unlikely to return to your previous industry or occupation due to current economic conditions.
6. You are eligible for, receiving or have exhausted your unemployment compensation benefits.
7. You are a displaced homemaker no longer supported by the income of another family member and are unemployed or underemployed.
8. You are a former contract worker or self-employed individual who is unemployed due to current economic conditions in Hillsborough County.
9. You are a non-retiree discharged recently from the armed forces under honorable conditions or an unemployed military spouse impacted by spouse’s active duty or discharge from active duty.
