On June 14, 2007, TBWA recognized its three Business Excellence Awards recipients at Tampa’s Embassy Suites Hotel – Downtown Convention Center. Recipients were selected for their commitment to hiring and retaining top talent. The 2007 TBWA Business Excellence Awards recipients were:
Emerging Business Award: Express Employment Professionals (FDBA - Express Personnel Services)
Express Personnel Services specializes in assisting job seekers as well as businesses with their human resource needs. It offers employees the opportunity to grow and learn the field; all employers are encouraged to get involved in the different areas of the business.
They simplified the hiring process with a Web-based application and began providing a diverse training program. Express University is an online training program that offers an efficient and flexible training program that works for each employee. They are then able to track each employees training with online transcripts. Express Personal is a small, fast-growing company that invests in its employees’ professional development.
Expanding Business Award: Girl Scouts of Suncoast Council
Girl Scouts of Suncoast Council is chartered through the Girl Scouts of the USA, which is headquartered in New York, NY, and has 3.6 million members. It embraces its employees’ needs for balancing workload and family by offering flexible schedules and telecommuting from home. They offer employees and their families the opportunity to participate in all Girl Scouts programs and events. Employees’ achievements are recognized through service awards, monthly recognition gifts and year-end bonuses. All advancement opportunities are presented to internal candidates first, so it is not uncommon for employees to have tenure of 15 years or more.
Growth Business Award: PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
PricewaterhouseCoopers provides industry-focused assurance, tax and advisory services to build public trust and enhance value for its clients and their stakeholders. They provide an internal employment database, performance coaching and developing process and regular written and face-to-face performance feedback. Employees have the opportunity to provide feedback to their managers through the Upward Feedback Program.
All employees receive 15 – 22 vacation days, 10 paid holidays, early office closings before firm holidays and Flexible Fridays in the summer months. All new parents (men and women) are eligible for 15 days of paid leave, which can be used immediately or up to year after the birth or adoption. PWC offers an unlimited sick leave policy and was ranked on Fortune magazine’s top 100 of best places to work in America for the past two years.
Economic Development Impact Award: M2GEN
M2GEN, the result of a merger between Merck, the world’s second-largest drug maker, and Lee Moffit Cancer Center, works to fight cancer through patient care, education and research. It will create 170 high-wage bioscience employment opportunities in the Tampa Bay region. In the next two to three years, M2GEN will create 100 million dollars in capital investment. The two organizations will come together to create cutting-edge research to tailor cancer treatments to individual patients.
